Harpers Bazaar Thursday, August 18, 2011 Art historian Rachel Chudley and Vivienne Westwood stylist Cassie Beadle of Camden concept store-cum-gallery Guts for Garters have launched the follow up to debut show The Royal WE. New theme is Surreal Women (co-inciding with the 75th anniversary of the Surrealist Movement) which takes inspiration from G4G muse and cross-dressing living work of art, Claude Cahun – the Lady Gaga slash Grayson Perry of her day. We’re talking naughty yet oh so subtle (“like the all best forms of sedition” according to Chudley) vagina patterned wall paper by Arlette Ess, devil headed pottery by honorary surreal woman Grayson Perry and a fabulous hairy epauletted armchair by Grace du Prez - worthy of the Balmain catwalk. |
